TLG | Kion and Kiara | Color Scheme

This started out as me trying to draw Kion, and then this idea came to my mind while i was looking for screencaps.
Look, it's not that i'm not fond of their original colors (well, i don't really like neither of Kiara's but i can live with it), it's just their colors don't match with my own palettes, so i designed some new ones for them.


Kion

First of all, damn, when did Kion get so frickin' yellow!? I know the show must be bright and all, to catch the kid's attention, and it looks nice in an equally bright environment, but when you draw him with these colors in the middle of a more natural colored scenario (like the one in the first movie), he sticks out like a sore thumb.

I actually started this one out with a screenshot from the actual show (pmctvline2.files.wordpress.com…) It was altered somehow, i don't even know why, but his warmer/duller hues got me.
So with that palette as base, i later added in some of Fluffy's colors (i'm only talking about the pelt color), yeah, that bright cheddar cheese cub we see in the first film. After that i pretty much just tweaked them randomly adding a little more yellow there, a little more blue here, and it was done.
Also, i really LOVE Kion's golden eyes, so i made them more golden instead of the dark orange they usually give him in The Lion Guard, just to please myself. 

People are whining about how Kion looks so much like Simba (even if he is more of a Mufasa clone) so i gave him more of Nala's face shape. His huge, squarish chin is gone for a more rounded one and his eye shape is more like his mother's (his eyebrows are also thinner and longer), and finally, to end the combo, his colors are a lot closer to Nala's than Simba's.


Kiara

These are the colors pictured in Simba's Pride, she became a lot more pleasing to the eye in The Lion Guard, but i still don't like them that much, i'm like 'meh'. I think what ruins Kiara's desing the most is her pink/purple nose. If you get that thing off there it looks nice enough.

I used her colors in The Lion Guard to do this version, her jungle ones, in the Zuka Zama song shot i think, not sure. Whatever, i just played out with hues and yellows, reds and blues, and this nice palette came out. I really like it 'cause it looks a lot like Nala's cub colors, but is a lot richer at the same time (i wanted to keep Kiara's palette as rich as possible, since she is specially bright even in such a dull movie as SP). Her purple nose was replaced for a reddish brown and her eyes... let me start with her eyes.

I never liked her red eyes. I don't think they fit in with the rest of her design and they just add yet another Simba trait that can only look good on Simba. So i just threw them off and mixed them with Nala's green. I really like this greyish-brown i got.
Now, what did she get from Simba then? Her more rounded, big features, and her eye shape. Yep
